Generic Tegretol (Carbamazepine) side effects. What to do if you feel Carbamazepine side effects

Despite many beneficial effects, Carbamazepine has some side effects and should be used only as prescribed. During the first few days of taking Tegretol, patients feel sleepy and uncoordinated, but as the body becomes accustomed to the effects of the Carbamazepine and tolerance develops, Tegretol side effects begin to disappear.

Because Carbamazepine work by slowing (stabilising) the brain's activity, when patients stops taking it, there can be a rebound effect, resulting in seizures or other harmful consequences.  When Tegretol generic is used long term, larger doses of Carbamazepine may be needed to achieve the therapeutic effects. Continued use of Tegretol can also lead to physical dependence and withdrawal when use is abruptly reduced or stopped.
